Most of us know that the lifestyle we lead affects our risk of developing many health problems including major chronic illnesses. In addition, it’s hardly news that a healthy lifestyle means being physically active and “eating right.” But many people think that living healthy is just too hard.

The personal and financial costs of poor health are staggering. In the last two decades, chronic illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, certain types of cancer, high blood pressure, and heart disease have increased beyond all expectations.   Fortunately, scientific research shows that chronic diseases can  often be prevented or at least delayed through lifestyle changes alone. 

Yet most diet and exercise programs don’t work.  This is probably true for many reasons. Exercise routines can be   boring, difficult, uncomfortable, and intimidating to   newcomers.  “Diet food” has the reputation of tasting bland.
